For many cannabis consumers, hiking is a favorite pastime — especially in Arizona. There’s something about being in nature that just feels right. And much like cannabis, hiking may be able to help reduce stress and boost your mood, making them a match made in heaven. To find your next outdoor adventure, read on for our list of the Top Seven Hiking Trails in Arizona.

1. Devil’s Bridge Trail

An easy 3.94 miles out-and-back trail features sweeping views of Sedona along the way and a breathtaking climax - Devil’s Bridge. This natural rock formation draws hikers from all over the globe for its unique shape and its iconic bridge-like silhouette. This is a very popular trail for photographers, backpacking enthusiasts, locals, and tourists, so get there early to find a parking space.

2. Tom’s Thumb

Get up close and personal with the iconic “thumb” rock formation in Scottsdale, Arizona’s McDowell Mountain Sonoran Preserve. Its striking thumb-like appearance is quite the sight as it rises right from the desert. Along this four-mile out-and-back trail, be prepared with plenty of water and bring a camera in case you see some wildlife!

3. Humphrey’s Peak Summit

This 9.57-mile out-and-back trail with approximately 2759 feet of elevation gain is well worth the trek. You’ll be able to take in the incredible views from Humphreys Peak — the highest point in Arizona! Another unique trait of this hike is the endless sea of Aspen trees dotting the trail, making this a fantastic hike to conquer during autumn when the leaves start to change from green to a rainbow of oranges, reds, and yellows.

4. Cibecue Falls

When you think of Arizona, you often think of a dry, desert landscape. That’s why taking the hike to Cibecue Falls is a refreshing change of scenery for the avid hiker. This beginner-friendly 2.94-mile hike traverses a gorgeous canyon and desert landscape before opening up to the waterfall oasis. Give yourself a moment to take in the sights and sounds of pure serenity before heading home.

5. Horseshoe Bend

Another water-filled adventure, Horseshoe Bend has become infamous for its undeniable beauty. All that stands between you and the horseshoe-shaped rock and water formations is a quick 1.52-mile out-and-back trail. If you’re in the mood for a fairly easy hike with a major payoff, this hike is for you.

6. Coal Mine Canyon

Much lesser known than its cousin, The Grand Canyon, Coal Mine Cayon is a hidden gem nestled in the Arizona desert. Featuring a vast array of spires, hoodoos, gullies, and cliffs of vibrant colors, it’s the perfect place for anyone craving closeness to nature and seclusion. With so few on the trail, get ready for some serious photo opps!

7. Summit Weavers Needle

Found in Gold Canyon, Arizona, Mother Nature was really showing off when she created the formation we know as the Weaver’s Needle. It’s easily one of the most breathtaking scenes as the rock seems to come directly out of the earth among the rolling hills. When you’re feeling adventurous, take this 8-mile hike as a rare opportunity to get out into the untamed wilderness and enjoy nature in its purest form.
